Margaret Craske Scholarship

The Margaret Craske Scholarship is awarded to students from BSNY who demonstrate exceptional promise and achievement. Since 1988, NYTB has selected students to receive this award in Miss Craske’s name.

Many of our past awardees have done remarkably well, including:

·      Breatrice Kitzinger (1992) – graduate of Harvard University

·      Kayan Lam (1993) – former soloist with H.T. Chen & Dancers

·      Anna Torregiano (2002) – attends St. John’s University

·      Sara Jansen (2003) – former NYTB dancer

Recent recipients and current BSNY students are Helen Moslander, Matthew Hollis, and Astrid Pedersen. All three dancers perform in NYTB productions including Nutcracker, Sleeping Beauty and Carnival of the Animals.

The 2009 Margaret Craske Scholarship has been awarded to Kymora Alleyne and Grace Sperling.

Miss Craske taught professional ballet and pointe as well as children’s advanced ballet at BSNY. She also coached the professional company until her retirement. NYTB was truly fortunate to have worked so closely with this woman of such extraordinary humanity and professional nature.
